For personal use, on your computer.
No collaboration, mobile app, or automatic sync yet.
Which computers does Staki support?
Macs with Intel or Apple Silicon, and Windows x64. Your vault is stored on your computer. No cloud account needed.
How do I move my vault to another computer?
Create an encrypted backup in Profile, transfer it, and restore it in Staki on the other computer. Automatic sync and a mobile app are not available yet.
What if I forget my master password?
If you created and saved a recovery code in advance, you can use it to open your vault and set a new password. Without your password, working biometric access, or a recovery code, your data cannot be recovered. You can keep the code on paper: hackers can’t get it, but spring cleaning might.
I deleted the app. Is everything gone?
Take a breath: your vault is stored separately from the app. Reinstall Staki and select the same folder. If you deleted the data folder too, you’ll need a backup you created beforehand.
How is the vault protected?
The current implementation uses Argon2id to derive a key from your password and XChaCha20-Poly1305 for encryption with integrity checks. You can configure biometrics, auto-lock, and timers for handling secrets.
Why does my system warn me during installation?
The current builds are not signed with Apple or Microsoft certificates, so your system may show a warning. Installation instructions are on the official website.
Who makes Staki?
